The Recognition State

The Canadian Government along with the British, French and Australian Governments have recognized the Palestinian State. A country that does not exist that they suggest should be run by an ex-KGB agent who is the autocratic leader in his 20th year of a four year term. Our Governments say the Palestinian Authority is the recognized leader of the country, although Hamas might disagree.

How many times have Palestinians been offered this two state solution with Israel and turned it down. So many peace accords in my lifetime, all rejected by the Palestinians because none of them meet the only condition that matters, Elimination of Jews from the area. Without that condition met, there will be no peace. It is even in their sloganeering.

I can not fathom why our Prime Minister would pick this particular time to make this declaration. One would think that when you are in negotiations with a country such as the United States as we are on so many fronts, you would not want to go against the most fundamental of policies they have espoused for 80 years, the support of Israel. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Or many others as well.

It seems Canada simply wants to continue to shoot itself in the foot in its negotiations with the United States. This latest foley seems so much more than that. Of course it pokes the US President who is trying to sort out the mess in the Middle East, this recognition also is very anti Israel. At home it is very anti jew. Honestly how can anyone be supportive of a group who’s stated goals are that of wiping another group off the face of the earth. Which is the case with the Palestinians towards the Jews.

Except for those that grow up in Israel, are actual Israelis, they largely support Israel. Their homes are bombed, their lives are just as at risk as he Jewish Israeli from the bombardment from Hamas and Hezbollah. The missiles do not have a device in them that goes, oh, that a jew house that’s not and direct accordingly. These mostly rude rockets just are point and shoot.

When Hamas struck on October 7th they did not check the papers of the people they attacked. Israelis, Americans, Canadians and many from other countries were victims of either the slaughter or hostage taking. An indiscriminate act of violence of truly horrific scale, that now has been rewarded by Canada and others with this declaration of statehood recognition. But is not that what Liberal Governments in Canada do. Reward the bad behaviour.

An article in the Toronto Sun recently. Warren Kinsella, who I have generally disagreed with over the years, makes a startlingly simple point. That the Liberal Governments of the day reward this bad behaviour with recognition. Let us take the example of the Quebec Nationalists versus the Canadian people. Certainly Trudeau the first stood up to the violence of the Nationalists in the 1960’s when he imposed martial law in Canada during the October crisis. (What is it about October for these fanatics)

The eventual outcome of the riots was section 33 of the newly created Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The section inserted so that Quebec Nationalists could opt out of any Canadian laws they felt impinged on their sovereignty. Not alone in this, the PC Government of the 1980’s attempted to give us Quebec, the distinct society in the form of the Meech Lake Accords which failed to be passed by referendum in Canada.

Not to be outdone, the Harper conservatives passed a motion in Parliament recognizing Quebec as a nation within a united Canada. What that means is anyone’s guess as it has no status in law. Finally Trudeau II would regularly say Quebec is a nation while turning ever greater amounts of federal jurisdiction over to them. And the result is that the Separatists are about to regain power in Quebec and once again agitate for leaving confederation.

Maybe as the result of Dear Leaders recognition of Palestine, some of the affected states such as Israel and the United States should recognize Quebec as an independent sovereign state. At the same time recognize Scotland and Corsica as well.

Imagine the uproar if Orange Man Bad recognized Quebec and then started dealing with them as a sovereign country and not part of Canada. Announcing that the Parti Quebecois is the only party they will deal with in Quebec and any further action by Canada against them will bring condemnation. Further that at such time as is appropriate if the Province of Alberta passes a resolution by referendum thay as well will be recognized as a sovereign state.

In principle what would be the difference. In each instance you have a nation stepping in to a situation where they have no right to. Interfering in the sovereignty of another country. If it would be unacceptable by Canadian’s if the United States do this with us, why is it right for us to do this to the Israelis. The answer is simple, it is not. Rewarding violence certainly is not the way forward. And yet here in Canada it seems the way of our Government.
